Outdoor picnic
tables are shaded by large oak trees and a brook babbles in the
background. But if you should visit on a typical Sunday you're
in for something less serene. Hundreds of bikers make the trip
here (usually to complete a 12-mile ride from Laguna Canyon) and
before you know it there's a 'beer girl' out front serving up
cold ones. Even as a favorite hangout for motorcycle lovers, the
crowd is fairly diverse, and most are just looking for a fun
spot to relax. Reminiscent of historic Orange County, Cook's
claims to be the oldest restaurant in the area, and it has
avoided being run out by chain restaurants. The food is simple:
BBQ, juicy burgers and great breakfast specials. There are often
impromptu jam sessions and the hired live entertainment is
typically a blues band. With a full bar and dance floor, it's a
lively spot. -- Victoria Namkung
